Attwater Join the SBAC |
That Attwater Group are now members of SBAC, the Society of British Aircraft Constructors. The society is the UK's national trade organisation representing over 2600 companies in the civil air transport, defence, homeland security and space sectors.
The affilliation will bring Attwater into closer partnership with other companies and organisations in the Aerospace sector.

New Compressors and Extractor. |
A co-ordinated investment program over the past three years has seen the addition of a CNC Beam Saw, a vac-bed CNC router, a CNC lathe and four CNC machining centres. In support of this expansion, new ancillary equipment is also being installed in the form of new compressed air and extraction systems.
At the beginning of 2008 it was decided that both systems would be replaced. March and April saw the installation of 2 new CompAir compressors and stainless steel distribution system throughout both buildings. The new system has ample spare capacity to support future expansion.
The new extraction system is scheduled to be installed later in 2008.

Two Familiar Faces Join the Sales Team. |
The Attwater Group would like to welcome Mr. Peter Masheter and Mr. Lee Parnell to their sales team. These names may be familiar to many people, as both have worked in the insulation industry for many years.
Sales Director, Rachael Kennedy said, “Our technical knowledge expertise is what sets the Attwater Group out from our competitors. It takes many years for a member of the team to gain the knowledge and understanding of our products and industry. To find two such individuals in such a short space of time is quite rare.”

In memory of Martin Denis Jones. 1960-2008 |
We regret to report the sad loss of Martin who passed away suddenly at home at the weekend.
He will be sadly missed by his family and his colleagues here at Attwater.
Martin came to work for Attwater, straight from school in 1976, at the age of 16. He was renowned for his amazing ability to remember facts, figures, people and dates and for his skill at working with customers to solve problems and develop new products
He will be dearly missed by all of us.

Two New CNC Machining Centres. |
In addition to the CNC Mini-Mill purchased earlier this year, the Attwater Group have now taken delivery of two new CNC machines. These machines were purchased in response to increased demand in the machining sector of our business.

CMM Machine. |
Following Attwater’s recent accreditation to AS9100, the company has invested in a Tessa Microhite Coordinated Measuring Machine.
The company has recently seen an increase in orders for critical components, the ability to measure these components to a high degree of accuracy is becoming more and more important.

New CNC Mini-Mill Machining Centre. |
As part of Attwater’s ongoing business improvement program, Attwater have invested in a new CNC Mini-Mill machine. The machine is now the fourth CNC machining centre in use at Attwater.
The machine has a smaller bed than the existing machining centres and is intended to relieve our larger machines of some of the smaller repetitive jobs.

New CNC Lathe. |
In order to meet a growing demand in the machining sector of their business, the Attwater Group have added a CNC lathe to their portfolio of machinery. The machine will enable Attwater to increase the throughput of complex turned items, whilst not compromising on tolerances or quality.
Engineering Director, Andy Goode advises “We are pleased to add CNC turning to our machining capabilities. In the near future we will be looking at relocating all of our existing lathes to another part of the building. This will create a dedicated turning department and allow us to expand our existing machine shop”.
The new lathe is now commissioned and operational.

Cool Room. |
The Attwater Group have built a dedicated cool-room. Technical Director, Tom Eland explains, “Some of the raw materials used in laminate manufacture (pre-preg) are temperature sensitive. Consequently, the ambient storage temperature of the pre-preg affects the shelf-life and quality of the finished product.”
The cool room is currently commissioned and in operation.

Attwater attain Tier 1 Airbus status. |
The Attwater Group have secured a long-term contract with Airbus UK to supply machined components for wing systems.
Quality Director, Dave Swarbrick was quoted as saying; "We have been an Airbus and BAe Systems approved manufacturer for many years now. We are pleased that Airbus have extended the scope of our approval to supply them with machined component".
The Attwater Group have always been industry leaders when it comes to quality, having the attained ISO 9000 approval in it's earliest days, attaining UKAS certificate number of just 0100.

Attwater Attain AS9100 accreditation. |
The Attwater Group are please to announce the addition of AS9100 accreditation to their list of quality approvals.
Attwater already hold ISO9001, Airbus, BAe Systems, BAe Military and Raytheon approvals, however have been working more closely with companies in the aerospace sector in recent years.
Quality director, Dave Swarbrick commented, “Following recently attaining status as a tier 1 supplier to Airbus, AS9100 was the next logical step. Attwaters have always had a strong quality ethos, and we were very please to pass the AS9100 audit without a single non-compliance”
