Bakelaque Tube & Rod
In addition to their range of Bakelaque laminate sheets, the Attwater
Group also produce a comprehensive range of rolled tubes and moulded rod manufactured
to meet the requirements of BSEN61212. (IEC1212). (replacing BS6128). The range includes phenolic paper and cotton
types, phenolic, epoxy and silicone glass fabric tubes, plus a number
of special high performance types.
Bakelaque tubes are produced by winding a pre-impregnated carrier
(pre-preg) through heated rollers onto a hot mandrel. The tubes
are batch cured in order to develop optimum properties before removal
from the mandrel. They may be supplied either in the as-wound condition
for subsequent machining by the customer or alternatively they may
be either ground or turned to finished size (dependant upon required
diameter). Tubes less than 60mm in diameter can be supplied
ground to size.
Flexible manufacturing techniques allow for production of special
grades and sizes where appropriate and our technical staff would
be pleased to discuss your specific requirements. A wide range of
mandrels is available from 5mm up to 500mm in diameter.
The Attwater Group also offers a comprehensive machining
service and would be pleased to quote for finished machined components
manufactured from their full range of tubes.
